Semiconductor sales fell in a normal holiday dive, ending the last week 10% below 2021. The IC weather cooled 4˚F over the holidays to Chilly conditions. Zooming in on 2022 results this week, the market ended the year bifurcated, with A&P and Auto in growth, logic flat, and memory in deep decline. Semiconductor sales grew 5% for the year, reaching a record $621B. TechInsights’ IC Supply/Demand continued to loosen over the holidays. Overall conditions slid from tight to balanced, as Foundry slipped out of tight levels. More Moore Foundry went to Glut, as More than Moore Foundry slipped to Loose. DRAM also dropped back to Glut. OSAT and Analog & Power dropped to Balanced, while Auto ICs did a 1-week stint in Tight conditions – the first time since the week of February 11, 2022.
