Infineon CYUSB2318 EZ-USB FX2G3 USB 2.0 Controller Planar Exploratory Analysis

Infineon’s CYUSB2318 EZ‑USB FX2G3 replaces FX2LP with a modern USB 2.0 controller, adding ARM cores, memory, and security for imaging apps.

As a replacement for the EZ-USB™ FX2LP USB HS device, the Infineon CYUSB2318 EZ- US B™ FX2G 3 is a USB 2.0 high-speed (480 Mbps) peripheral controller based on a MXS40-LP platform. The EZ-USB™ FX2LP was a simple legacy USB 2.0 high-speed bridge, while EZ-USB™ FX2G3 is a modern, high-performance USB controller with ARM cores, large memory, and built-in security features. It is noted that the EZ-USB™ FX2G3 that is presented in this report is a Rev. B edition of the device that unlike the Rev. A supports clock out feature. The CYUSB2318 controller is aimed at USB 2.0 applications in biometrics, scanner, camera, video and imaging markets.
