This report presents an advanced functional analysis of the Broadcom BCM3384 DOCSIS®/ Euro-DOCSIS™ 3.0 cable gateway SoC device. This device combines Broadcom's full-band capture (FBC) digital tuning technology with remote diagnostics, dual-band concurrent Wi-Fi, a custom applications processor, and integrated DECT 6.0 CAT-iq 2.0. The BCM3384 chip is Broadcom's fourth generation DOCSIS 3.0 SoC solution, providing up to ~1 Gbit/s effective downstream speeds (960 Mbits/s in North American cable systems). This is not the first device to provide such speeds, however, as Intel released their Puma™ 6 cable modem chip, also capable of 1 Gbit/s speeds, in 2012.
