Synaptics Astra SL2610 Taps Coral for AI at the IoT Edge

The Synaptics Astra SL2610 is a new series of embedded processors aimed at the IoT edge market, featuring Arm Cortex-A55 CPU cores alongside a Cortex-M52 real-time core. It integrates a Mali GPU and features the first commercial implementation of Google’s Coral NPU architecture for modest AI acceleration of up to 1 TOPS. The SL2610 product line supports Linux and Android operating systems and includes multi-layer security features designed to address industrial and consumer IoT security concerns. It also supports integration with Synaptics Veros wireless connectivity ICs, enabling designs to add technologies such as Wi-Fi 6/7, Bluetooth, Thread, and UWB by pairing the SL2610 with Veros devices for smart, connected applications, including smart home hubs, IoT edge controllers, and security gateways.
