This insight provides TechInsights’ initial perspectives on the release of the smart home Matter standard version 1.5, which is coordinated by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). The Matter standard was launched in October 2022 and is backed by smart home ecosystem players Amazon, Apple, Google, and Samsung, as well as the CSA, formerly known as the Zigbee Alliance. The Matter 1.5 release introduces support for camera devices, soil sensors, and enhances the capabilities of closure devices and energy management features.
