North America smartphone shipments grew 1.7% YoY in Q1 2026, led by Apple and Samsung, which together held nearly 79% share.

North American smartphone shipments in Q1 2026 grew by a modest +1.7% increase year-over-year, as the market continued a slow recovery after the tariff-driven volatility of 2025. The duopoly between Apple and Samsung remains entrenched, together accounting for approximately 78.5% of North American shipments in Q1 2026. Apple’s share ticked upward to over 50% as its iPhone 17 lineup continued to sell through distribution channels. Samsung’s A-Series budget segment and premium Galaxy S26 Ultra maintained consumer interest on the Android side. Motorola continued its steady climb as the preferred alternative Android supplier for carriers.
