The Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 17.37 million units from its global launch in June 2025 to the end of the year, despite geopolitical and macroeconomic turmoil putting greater strain on consumer discretionary budgets. While the NVIDIA Tegra SoC that powers the Switch 2 is a custom component for Nintendo, the success of the first-generation Switch is inviting competition. Valve’s Steam Deck is the marquee competitor, though PC OEMs, including ASUS and Lenovo, are going to market with Windows-powered competitors.
