The Galaxy Z Fold5's 120Hz main display and touchscreen likely incorporate a 'Shock Dispersion layer' that is 0.070 mm thick. The 120Hz secondary display in the Fold4 certainly doesn’t have the 'Shock Dispersion layer.’ The Fold5’s hinge system comprises of three hinges, each with four springs and side mountings attaching them to the housing. These hinges also connect to a central support/cover element, distinct from the housing. Comparing the hinge designs of the Fold4 and Fold5, the Fold5 employs a uniform system of three hinges, while the Fold4 had one smaller hinge (different from the other two). Both devices utilize an extra protective element to which the hinges are affixed, besides their attachment to the housings. This element safeguards the hinges and is part of the housing. The hinges are engineered to ensure that the housing folds flat when closed, a design aspect not present in previous iterations. The weight of both subsystems remains similar to the Fold5.
