Safety, reliability, and cost – these are the three main requirements from image sensors in automotive applications. Automotive sensors operate in a much larger temperature range than consumer sensors and larger temperature tolerance is required. Effective nighttime performance and LED flicker reduction are also important factors. At the IISW 2023 Sony, onsemi, and Samsung each presented research on upcoming devices designed specifically for the automotive industry.
