A recent Reuters article shone a spotlight on chiplet technology, noting that China’s Chipuller has acquired California’s zGlue’s chiplet technology patent. Does chiplet give China the ability to continue to develop industry-leading technology despite trade restrictions?

But chiplet isn’t new. It’s loosely the reverse of system-on-chip (SoC); where an SoC combines several functions on to a single chip, chiplet isolates each function into its own chip, then simplifies the process of packaging them together.

TechInsights’ Chi Lim Tan, Eugene Hsu, and Alain Gauthier explain chiplet, its significance to the semiconductor industry, and they discuss previous analyses on solutions from the likes of: Xilinx, Apple, AMD, Intel, and more.
